1. Definition of mold trial
Trial molding refers to pre-manufacturing a mold part and testing it before mold production to determine whether the quality meets the requirements. The main purpose of mold trial is to discover and solve deficiencies in mold manufacturing before production problems occur, so as to improve productivity and reduce production costs.
2. Why do we need to conduct a mold trial?
(1)Improve the quality and efficiency of mold production
Making molds is often a complicated process. If there is no trial mold before production, there may be various problems, such as defects, force imbalance, inappropriate accessories, etc. These problems can lead to production line shutdowns, poor product quality, wasted time and costs, and more. Trial molds can detect these problems before production, solve potential production problems, improve the production quality and efficiency of molds, and reduce production costs.
(2)Reduce the number of improvements
Trial molds can discover mold design flaws or manufacturing process problems before production, so that these problems can be solved more quickly and thoroughly. Through mold testing, the mold manufacturing cycle can be shortened, the number of improvements can be reduced, and production efficiency can be improved.
(3)Optimize mold design
During the mold trial process, the mold design can be improved by analyzing the results to improve production efficiency and product quality. Through feedback on the mold trial results, designers can determine which designs need optimization and improvement in order to create better molds.
3. Mold trial process
The mold trial process includes the following steps:
(1)Determine the test purpose and test standards
Before starting the mold trial, it is necessary to clarify the purpose of the test and the test standards so that the mold trial results can be compared and analyzed. The purpose of testing may be to test the size of the mold, material strength, durability or coordination between different parts, etc.
(2)Manufacturing trial mold parts
Before trying out the mold, the corresponding mold parts need to be manufactured. These parts can be the main components of the mold, or accessories or tooling of the mold.
(3)Assemble trial mold
Assemble the trial mold parts and install them on the test equipment to ensure that the environment and test conditions are the same as the actual production environment.
(4)Test and record results
Conduct actual tests and record test results. Test data should include mold dimensional measurements, material testing, performance testing in actual production environments, etc.
(5)Analyze results and make improvements
Based on the test results, the performance and quality of the mold are analyzed and corresponding improvements and adjustments are made.
