The closing line of the rotomolding mold is also called the parting surface and parting line of the mold, which is the contact surface of the two planes of the mold flange. When designing a mold, the appropriate selection of the mold closing line or parting surface plays an important role in the success of mold design and production. The following points must be paid attention to when designing the mold closing line:

1. The position of the mold closing line should be conducive to production operations such as mold opening and closing. Generally speaking, it is necessary to set the mold closing line at the largest size of the product. This can make the opening and closing of the mold more convenient, facilitate the rapid closing of the mold after adding materials and the rapid opening of the mold after the product is formed, and speed up the production of the product. Demolding speed improves production efficiency

2. The position of the mold closing line should take into account the aesthetic needs of the product. No matter how well the mold is made, there will still be traces of the mold closing line on the produced products. If this mark appears on the main part of the product surface, the first thing people will see when touching the product is the mark of the mold closing line, which will greatly affect the beauty and value of the product. If the mark is serious, it will directly lead to the scrapping of the product. Therefore, when designing the mold closing line, try to set it at the edge of the product where people don’t notice it much.

3. The setting of the mold closing line can make the mold structure simpler. If the mold closing line is made too complicated, the cost of the mold will increase, and the opening and closing efficiency of the mold will also be affected. Normally, the mold closing line should be set on a plane as much as possible.
